New Environment Director Meets with Zero Waste Montgomery Leaders

On Tuesday, October 3, 2023, ZWMC members, Amy Maron and Susan Eisendrath, along with members of the Climate Coalition of Montgomery County, met with the new DEP Director, Jon Monger. Monger comes to the County after having served in senior positions at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in the Biden and Obama Administrations.

Monger stated that the he is committed to a robust materials management program for Montgomery County that honors the principles of zero waste. An national engineering firm has been hired to review alternative waste management proposals and Monger pledged to give ZWMC members an opportunity to provide input into the analysis.
